It is an acid test for both the Chief Ministers of the Telugu states. One is an MP election in Tirupathi the temple town of Andhra Pradesh. The other is an MLA election in Nagarjunasagar of Telangana state.
Both are sitting seats of the ruling parties. The ruling party has to win the sitting seats and both are byelections. Both the candidates died due to health reasons.
Nagarjuna Sagar seat is being contested by the son of Nomula Narasimhaiah the sitting candidate. Both the ruling party candidates are overconfident.
As things stand it looks like in Tirupathi the fight is between the YSRC and the TDP. When it comes to Telangana the fight is between Congress and the TRS.
The BJP is struggling to stay in the contest. The counting is on May 2nd. The polling is on 17nth. All the political parties have spent money in some form or the other.
The ruling party has all the edge in spending the money here in Tirupathi and also Nagarjuna Sagar. The TRS is buoyant by winning 2 MLC seats. But the TDP is getting good crowds in Tirupathi.
So it is between TDP and YSRC here in the Temple Town and here in Nagarjunasagar it is between the TRS and Congress.
