ARMED FORCES FLAG DAY

The Nation celebrates Armed Forces Flag Day on 07 Dec every year to commemorate the monumental sacrifices made by the Armed Forces personnel in defending the territorial integrity of our Sovereign nation both during War and Peace.

As a token of gratitude and social responsibility, Armed Forces Flag Day Fund has been established by the Government in 1948 to rehabilitate and restore the honour of War Veterans, War Widows, disabled soldiers, Ex-Servicemen and their families.

Citizens, Corporates, employees of Government and other PSUs contribute voluntarily for the fund by donating amounts, purchase of Car Flags and stickers, contributions, etc.

Sri Siripuram Vishwanatham, aged 78 years, a businessman from Huzurnagar came forward to donate a cheque for Rs. 50 Lakhs for the Armed Forces Flag Day fund. Smt. Tamilisai Soundararajan, Hon’ble Governor and Chairperson Armed Forces Flag day Fund, Telangana State was kind enough to receive the cheque at Raj Bhavan today.

The Governor appreciated the Goodwill gesture and kind-heartedness of Sri Siripuram Vishwanatham and honoured him by presenting him a shawl. Hon’ble Governor has said that his kind gesture will go a long way in the welfare of Ex-Servicemen and their families.
