The annual festival of prosperity attracting the Hindu women folk of the country, Sri Varamahalakshmi Vratam, was performed with religious fervor and gaiety today at the Padmavati Ammavari Temple, in Trichanoor.
The acting chief justice of High court Sri Ramesh Ranganathan, TTD chairman Dr Chadalawada Krishnamurthy and TTD Executive Officer Dr D Sambasiva Rao couple, TTD board members Smt Suchitra Ella, Sri Bhanuprakash Reddy, Smt Sugunamma, MLA, and JEO Sri Pola Bhaskar couple participated.
As part of the festival, Suprabatham, Sahasrarchabna Nityarchana, Abhishekam for utsava and Moola idols were performed in the morning and later the Utsava idol of Padmavati was brought to the Astana Mandapam for the rituals of Sankalpam, Vishwaksena Aradhana, Punyavachanam, Sahasranam, Kalasha sthapana Kumkumarchana, Vrata Vaishistam, Maha mangalarathi. The Asthana mandapam was decorated colorfully with flowers and electrical illuminations.
Later the Sri Varamahalakshmi vratam was celebrated in traditional style. The temple priest Sri P Srinivasan narrated the legend of Varalakshmi vratam as glorified in the Skanda puranam.As part of the festival the deity will be taken around on golden chariot on the four mada streets in the evening.
The daily rituals of Abhisekanantara darshanam, Lakshmi puja, Kalyanotsavam, Kumkumarchana and Unjal seva were suspended for the day. Among others who participated in the event were Dy EO Sri Chinnagari Ramana, Dy EO (services) Sri Vijayasarathi and other senior officials and devotees.
