Tsunami alert for Southern Mexico

A Tsunami alert was given in Southern Mexico as a powerful earthquake hit the coast of southern Mexico today. The people ran away from their houses fearing the collapse of teh buildings.

The quad was measured at 7.7 on the scale and it was centred on the Pacific coast in the state of Oaxaca. President Lopex announced that there were no immediate casualties reported or the building damages so far.

However, the officials are assessing the situation. The earthquake hit the area of coffee plantations, beach resorts and Spanish architecture. Some apartment owners have already reported that cracks were seen in their flats.

All of them fled into the streets as the Earthquake was very strong and it was like a sudden jolt to the habitations. So far nobody could spot any fallen buildings.Still, more reports are awaited.
