While addressing a gathering of over 250 women journalists during a workshop in Telangana, Former members of parliament Kalvakuntla Kavitha shunned the party that harassed leading women journalists via Teg Fog.
She further said there are many many women journalists in india who are harassed and trolled for being fearlessly and raising their voices. She said that it’s important that more and more people and especially women supported each other, to ensure that nobody and especially women do not pay a price for raising their voice.
In her address, Kavitha said that trolling is gender based in our country and that when many women anchors or journalists were seen in media circle , they were only to imitate the west not to promote women and their voice.
Kavitha said that Telangana Govt and state values the contribution and devotion of every journalist alike.
Under the leadership of CM KCR Telangana is the only state in the India despite being a small and new state to have accredited 18,000 journalists. She further added, the Government under CM KCR has supported the media fraternity with Media Bhawan and welfare fund of Rs 100 crore that supports all the accredited journalists. On passing away of any journalist, Telangana Govt. provides support of Rs. 1 lakh, Rs 3000 for pension to kin for 5 years and Rs 1000 towards fee of children until class 10th.
MLC Kavitha further added that during COVID19 pandemic, KCR Govt. supported the families of deceased journalists with Rs 2 lakh.
Kalvakuntla Kavitha, daughter of Telangana CM, concluded her address by urging reporters to speak the truth and not let the threats of any political party in the form of harassment keep them and the people of India away from the truth.
