India is a young Nation; the unemployment rate is very high every year 80 lakhs of youth entering the job market with age group between 20-24 years.

Govt. of India the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC) has initiated the Green Skill Development Programme (GSDP) under Environment and Forest sector on 14th May, 2018 to provide Employment & Entrepreneur skills to youth across the country.

The GSDP has more than 44 certificate courses/training programmes on offer to skill enthusiasts across the country to enhance their green skills.

World over the importance of Green Economy & Green GDP is on the rise and all Govt.’s have already initiated various steps towards that end. Mere economic development at the cost of environment and ecosystem is the peril of the human race

Environmental awareness, significance of conserving biodiversity are assuming lot of importance in the present day Environment Protection Training & Research Institute is a recognised, accredidated premier institute in the country dealing with environment protection and building awareness on issues related to ecology (pollution, air, water, soil, biodiversity conservation of natural resources, etc.,).

Under GSDP, EPTRI has conducted (10) programmes during 2018-2019 and during 2019-2020, (9) training programmes are sanctioned.

Presently two Certificate courses are in Progress:

“Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Green GDP”

The duration of the course is 14th-29th February, 2020 This training programme has been designed in such a way that you will understand the importance of natural resources and how to value it in terms of monetary and how to conserve them.

As there is huge loss of biodiversity in terms of habitat loss, climate change, pollution, land use change, invasive alien species.

Hence, there is a need to evaluate the ecosystem services as it builds on traditional valuation approaches by explicitly considering the environment as a whole – bringing together land, water, air, soil and biodiversity

This course will provide competency to the candidates in assessing the ecosystem and how to evaluate it. “STP / ETP/ CETP Operation and Maintenance” The duration of the course is 10th February – 24th March, 2020.

The STP/ETP & CETP course is specially designed to create lot of awareness on the operation and maintenance of the above treatment plants. Nowadays, there are various courts, and Hon’ble NGT is passing stringent orders for construction of STP/ETP all over India.

STP is for Sewage treatment which will be generated from domestic front due to generation of waste water from Toilets, Kitchen and Bath rooms which are organic in nature and decrease the oxygen levels in the Rivers and tanks if discharged in untreated way and produce obnoxious hydrogen sulphide smell and kill aquatic animals and fishes due to less oxygen.

Hence the Sewage treatment is made compulsory for all the large cities and metros and residential complexes etc., and knowledge of it s design and Operation and Maintenance is essential

Similarly many industries will produce effluents which will have various organic pollutants in high concentration and also have toxic compounds which are to be treated in a specialised treatment plant called as Effluent Treatment Plant” (ETP) and needs skills to treat properly for various industries .

In case of Industrial areas and pharma units which produce various types of pollutants the same can be treated in a large Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) by properly designing for effective treatment of various wastes which avoids individual units to treat and spend amount separately.

In Hyderabad we have two CETPs i.e Jeedimetla Effluent Treatment Plant and Patancheru Effluent Treatment Plant to cater the needs of the industrial effluents.

There is an urgent need for skilled man power in ETP & STP sector, which thereby generates employment in a large scale in this area.

The course is designed to provide detailed inputs to operate the same. Experts and scientists in field of environment will be delivering lectures. The course is more of a interactive session with field visits and practical sessions.
