Top sources from the BJP headquarters have indicated that they are aiming at around 50 seats in the GHMC Polls. They pretty well know that the TRS and the MIM will together take the Mayor post and there is no doubt about this.
Now the strategy is to get around 50 seats so that it can become a formidable opposition and then aim for the coming Assembly elections. They have chosen wards where the Hindu vote is strong and the Muslim population is less.
The BJP wants to make their presence felt. If they can win 30 seats, it is also a big achievement. That means they will be grabbing these seats from the TRS.
The Congress is nowhere in the race and they may get around 5 to 8 seats according to the latest estimates. The TRS and the BJP will be in the first and second places.
The TRS has announced the elections in such a fashion that the BJP and the Congress has no time to surge forward as expected. The Congress party is facing the funds crunch across the country.
