Tech for urban transit

The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, Hyderabad Campus,is hosting the Inception Workshop of Technologies for Urban Transit to Enhance Mobility & Safe Accessibility (TUTEM) Project, which is funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB). This project aims to enhance the security and safety of daily commuters in public transportation through the intervention of technologies. Mr. Anjani Kumar, Director General of Police, Telangana State (TS) Police Department, is the Chief Guest for this workshop, and Mr. NVS Reddy, Managing Director, Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited, is the Guest of Honour. The higher rank officers from the TS Police Department and Higher Officials from state-owned organisations are the distinguished guests. This event is hosted by Prof. G Sundar, Director, BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus.

Following the inauguration, the key stakeholder meeting is presided by Prof. P Yogeeswari, Dean Administration, BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus to develop a participatory planning process for the citizens in this project.

TUTEM will be co-developed by IIT Bombay (Prof. Avijit Maji), BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus (Prof. Prasanta Sahu), IIT Kharagpur (Prof. Arkopal Goswami) and LocationMind, Japan (Mr. Naoki Kiritani). TUTEM proposes using multiple technological approaches to help urban transit users, especially women and senior citizens, feel safer and more secure during their first and last mile trips.This workshop is about brainstorming among TUTEM Project Team, ADB officials, key stakeholders, and advisors for the successful development and implementation of the technological solution in Hyderabad City.
