Shashank Goel, IAS Director General, Dr MCR HRD Institute & Special Chief Secretary to Government of Telangana inaugurated the Capacity Building Program on Media Management for Senior Officers of Lok Sabha Secretariat on August 28th 2023. This is the second Capacity Building Program for the Officers of Lok Sabha Secretariat conducted by the Institute during 2023. In his keynote address, he said that the contemporary scenario is characterized by a proliferation of the media, across all platforms and mediums. “In this scenario, it becomes even more important for the Government Officers to know how to separate fact from fiction and information from opinion”, he opined.

Dr. Shashank Goel, IAS stated that the Capacity Building Program on Media Management will not only allow the Officers to develop a better understanding of how the complex media landscape and modern news cycle works but also empower them to effectively use Print, Electronic, and Social Media for publicity to the Government initiatives.

Dr. Shashank Goel, IAS said that the effectiveness of Bureaucracy will be greatly enhanced if its relationship with the media is managed with a professional touch. “The Bureaucracy and Media should come out of their respective shells, enrich their relationship with each other, and explore the possibilities of working for a common agenda of national development”, he added.

Shri Neeraj Semwal, IAS, Joint Secretary, Lok Sabha Secretariat, who was the Guest of Honor, said that the three important institutions, namely, Lok Sabha, Democracy, and Media are complementary to each other. Keeping this in view, he stated that the Press & Public Relations Wing of the Lok Sabha coordinates with numerous media and publicity organizations to ensure that the initiatives of Lok Sabha receive extensive coverage.

“The Competency Building Program will go a long way in making the interface of Lok Sabha with the Media organizations far more creative, vibrant, and relevant not only in the contemporary scenario but also in the times to come”, added Shri Neeraj Semuval, IAS.
