The Congress Government promised the Special status to AP which would shower a lot of benefits to the state in the form of subsidies. The BJP Government came to power and they also promised the same. Narendra Modi promised the status and later could not do it.
Chandrababu and Venkaiah Naidu demanded special status and later they supported the special package and opined that it was better than the special status. Taking a U-turn, Now Chandrababu wants special status and the YRSC is using it a plank for the election.
Chandrababu is fighting against the centre with the card of special status. Now the latest being that Rahul Gandhi has promised for the special status if the Congress comes to power in 2019.
K Chandrasekhar Rao the Telangana CM and also the TRS MP are supporting the cause of Special status to Andhra Pradesh. They raised the issue in parliament and supported the cause of Chandrababu Naidu. But the BJP government is clear that it is not possible for the centre to accord the special category status to AP.
BJP Chief Amit Shah explained several times that they have given a lot of fund to the AP, which was better than the status. Since Jagan is using the special status for elections, the TDP was forced to come back to the special status slogan and now the Congress chief has promised that he would give the special status to AP if Congress comes to power at the centre.
Modi promised earlier and did not deliver. Now Rahul promised the same and may not be in a position to deliver in 2019.
