PV Sindhu reaches quarterfinals in Tokyo Olympics

PV Sindhu the champion from the Telugu states has reached the quarterfinals of Shuttle badminton in the Olympics. Sindhu will now clash with Akane Yamaguchi of Japan in the quarterfinals.

World champion PV Sindhu outwitted Mia Blichfeldt 21-15, 21-13 in 40 minutes to storm into the women’s quarterfinals of the Tokyo Olympics on Thursday.

Sindhu fought back with a cool and calculated game. She began to assert herself and got into a good rhythm. She was back in her elements as she dominated the game with the brilliant cross-court and drop shots before closing the game.

Growing in stature, Sindhu meant business. She reeled off points with controlled attacking strokes that caught the Dane on the wrong foot. Blichfeldt’s game began to crumble as Sindhu was in full flow.

Sindhu surged ahead 11-6 and then ran away to an 18-11 lead. Although the Dane managed to save match points, it was all over bar the shouting as Sindhu stamped her class with an impeccable game.
