Cyberabad police, under their initiative called Operation Smile, rescued 581 children till date. Cyberabad CP VC Sajjanar, said ‘Operation Smile was formed on 18th June 2018. It was formed by the Cyberabad Police to search for vulnerable children aged below 14 years who are found on footpaths, traffic junctions, working in tea stalls, dhabhas, near religious places, micro industries, begging, rag picking etc. in Cyberabad Commissionerate.

In Cyberabad Operation Smile will run throughout the year. The separate vehicle is kept for 24 hours rescuing children. It is the responsibility of residential welfare committees to inform the Cyberabad police on Child labour in their colonies. They are three SMILE Teams working in three zones of Cyberabad Commissionerate.

The aim of these teams is to prevent child trafficking and rescue children from persons who engage them in begging, sex trade and other anti-social activities and to trace missing children. Cyberabad police is operating full-fledged Bharosa centres.

To protect the children from sexual abuses in schools Balamithra initiative is started and is doing exceptionally well. Aasara is started in Cyberabad for the rehabilitation of the old age people and for a dignified life of the senior citizens Aasara is started. Don Bosco, Adarana, Cheers and other organisations were Supporting the cause. I hope that by next year there would be no Operation Smile teams would work in Cyberabad.’

‘Cyberabad police has launched a special Whatapp No.7901115474 for reporting on child labour. Citizens requested to report on persons using children below 14 years as child labour in hotels, restaurants, dhabhas, tea stalls etc. on this number or Dial 100 or send e-mail to “smileteamcyb@gmail.com”.

Stringent action will be taken against the offenders. Using children below 14 years as labour is prohibited by law and carries a punishment of imprisonment of up to three years. People can also report about any child found begging along with the address and the Smile team will rescue the child and help in their rehabilitation he added.
