Once again Nitish will be the Chief Minister, but all other key posts will be taken by the BJP the single largest party that has emerged in the Bihar elections. BJP got the lions share of votes and seats in Bihar.
The Modi mania still works in Bihar and also UP in General. Even in Telangana the BJP managed to grab Dubbaka from the TRS in a byelection.
This proves that the Modi attraction and credibility is in tact.
The BJP banks on a Hindu collation to win elections. In states such as Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, this requires handling a constant tension between various caste groups, especially upper castes; who have been traditionally loyal to the BJP, and the dominant Other Backward Classes; who were able to capture power in the Mandal phase of politics.
The fact that Yogi Adityanath, who was seen as a radical Hindutva leader at the time of his appointment as the chief minister, is increasingly being perceived as a Thakur chief minister in Uttar Pradesh by not just historically deprived caste groups but also Brahmins is the biggest example of the centrality of this contradiction.
Right now Nitish Kumar has already clarified that this would be his last time and the BJP has given him the power as promised during the elections. He will be an ornamental Chief Minister and would be controlled by the BJP.
