As part of the unique Green India Challenge, Rajya Sabha MP Joginapally Santosh Kumar, who has been promoting the initiative for the last few years, along with Jubilee Hills MLA Maganti Gopinath planted saplings in the Rahmatnagar division of Jubilee Hills constituency on Sunday.
The Green India challenge is very popular across the country, and also across the world with the people from Telugu communities. Crores of saplings have already planed under the initiative.
The Haritha Haram programme of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao inspired the novel initiative of the Green India Challenge. There is a definite need to promote and make people aware of the significance of planting trees and the overall impact on the environment, the Rajya Sabha MP said.
“In a city that is as big as Hyderabad, the huge number of vehicles and industries affect the environment and cause pollution.
The same happened in Delhi and it is now upon every person in Hyderabad to take it upon themselves to ensure a lot of trees and saplings are planted, as this will bring down the pollution.
So there is every need for the people o promote greenery in a big way. It is a record of sorts that the GIC has created records for planting sapling across the country and especially in the state of Telangana.
Many celebrities have taken part in this programme and are promoting the same.I thank Gopinath for taking this initiative up on such a big scale,” Santosh Kumar stated.
