While the process of Panchayat elections is going on the stage is being set for the MLC elections in Telangana. There is every chance the notification for the MLC elections could be released by the end of February. 13 to 16 posts will be vacant and the Government would be filling the same. There are hundreds of aspirants for the MLC posts. The people at the helm of affairs have promised leaders from various quarters for the post of MLCs. Eight of the MLCs will be in place by March end. 4 MLC seats are already vacant. There could be elections for the posts of 3 MLCs who have crossed over from the TRS in the recent times.
3 MLCs who have got elected as MLAs in the recent elections have also resigned. These posts are also vacant. On the whole 13 MLC posts will be vacant in the council. Kondamurali gave away one seat and joined the Congress party.
The term of Shabbir Ali, Mahmood Ali, Ponguleti Sudhar Reddy, Santosh Kumar, Mohammed Salim will expire soon. MS Prabhakar, Pathuri Sudhakar, Swamy Goud, Pula Ravinder is also in the list. Some of them will be there till March end. All the MLC seats would be filled by mostly TRS. If some Congress MLAs shift to TRS, then there may not be any MLC from the Congress in the near future.
