Liquor sale goes up in Telangana

Liquor was the biggest entertainer for the people of Telangana and they ended the year 2020 with the same. Around Rs 400 crore liquor sale was registered in the state of Telangana in the last 4 days. The Celebrations for the New year 2021 were lukewarm outside, but the people drank as much as they want indoors.

The clubs and pubs have done good business this year when compared to the last year. The huge jump in liquor sale was despite the recent increase in prices. People were seen moving around with mask to prevent Corona. But they did not bother about Corona when they were in clubs and pubs.

The State government had hiked the liquor prices by 10 per cent ahead of the New Year. The hike, announced two weeks ago, has brought in additional revenues of Rs.300-400 crore to take the overall revenue from liquor to Rs 20,000 crore during the current financial year.

Liquor is one of the biggest sources of revenue for the state of Telangana. When it comes to drunken driving the Police in Hyderabad and surroundings registered more than 2,000 cases.

As many as 951 cases were registered in the limits of Hyderabad police commissionerate while 873 people were booked in Cyberabad commissionerate which covers the information technology hub and other outskirts.

Rachakonda police commissionerate, which covers parts of Hyderabad and outskirts, recorded 281 violations. The police were able to prevent some accidents by preventing people from drunken driving.
