One of the key followers of Kishan Reddy has joined the BRS. The BJP in Telangana received a big blow with its former Greater Hyderabad president B Venkat Reddy, along with his wife B Padma Venkat Reddy who is the BJP corporator from Baghamberpet joining the BRS party. Venkat Reddy has been with the party for around 40 years and was a follower of BJP state president G Kishan Reddy.
BJP leaders said Venkat Reddy’s quitting the party comes as a huge perception blow to Kishan Reddy as Venkat Reddy and his wife both are from Amberpet Assembly constituency, which was earlier represented by Kishan Reddy.
Amberpet is also one of the segments of the Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency which is currently represented by Kishan Reddy, who is also a Union Minister.
Venkat Reddy is very close to Bandaru Dattatreya and also Dr Laxman.
Announcing his decision to quit the party along with his wife, Venkat Reddy said despite working for the party for many years, he did not receive the recognition he deserved.
There is a chance that more leaders will quit the BJP and join either in Congress or the BRS in the coming days.
