Lockdown has taken its toll on the flower export and also the local sales. The flower growers have no other option but to pluck the full bloom flowers and pour them outside the field to perish.

This is a huge loss to them. There is is no demand for flowers as the temples are closed and there are no marriages happening around. People who invested in the flowers crop are a heavy loss.

The Government which has made arrangements for producing the paddy and other crops did not do any arrangement for the flowers. Flowers are a perishable commodity and there is no way they can be stored and sold later.

That is the reason that some of them have left the flower fields to perish on their own. Even if they are plucked and bought to the market, there would be no one coming out to purchase the flowers.

The farmers who have invested in the flowers crop are in tears and feeling sorry that they have invested in this crop by mistake.
