The SP and the BSP combine is of the opinion that the Congress party is insignificant in Uttar Pradesh. Akhilesh and Mayawati have decided that they would contest together in Uttar Pradesh and will defeat the BJP. Without the Congress, they will be able to defeat the BJP and it has been proved earlier said one of the spokesperson of the party.

But however, with a broad mind, the SP-BSP leaders have decided that they would not contest the seat of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. They would leave two seats in favour of them. But they will not align with the Congress. They think that the Congress party has become insignificant here and not able to get any votes. Joining the Congress will be of no use to them Akhilesh and Mayawathi have decided.

They are also of the opinion that the Congress was not considering the cause of other parties and they want to join other parties where they have no support or voter base. This is the double standard they opined.

The Congress alone may not be in a position get a single seat against the BSP-SP combine and the BJP. It has to be seen how far the SP and the BSP would be able to take on BJP. It will be a triangular contest and the Congress is bound to lose.

Now there is no hope that the Congress would become the Single largest party in the country. This development in UP is to the advantage of the BJP. TheUP alone cannot give all the edge to the BJP and SP combine. Even if the BJP and SP-BJP combine can get 50/50 per cent of seats, then it will be giving an edge to the BJP only.
