The Congress today withdrew the petition filed against the decision made by the Vice president on the impeachment of the CJI. The Vice President Venkaiah Naidu earlier rejected the petition filed by the Congress for the impeachment of the CJI . The Vice President after due consultation with the legal luminaries opined that the grounds were flimsy and that there was no proper evidence to order an enquiry against the CJI on the allegations made by the opposition.

But two Congress leaders again challenged the decision of the CJI and opined that the VP Venkaiah has taken a decision in a hasty manner and that the CJI should be tried for impeachment.

The Vice President later asserted himself that he has done enough homework over the matter and he has also referred the allegations made by the opposition to the legal luminaries and since they don’t stand any chance for an enquiry against the CJI and since they don’t have any merit of whatsoever, there was no other option but to reject the notice of impeachment.
