Chief Minister Sri K Chandrashekhar Rao has announced that the Sriram Sagar Project will be filled with water from Kaleswaram Project this year itself. For this, the CM has instructed officials to complete the works pertaining to Pump House at Rampur in Jagtial district on the fast track.
The CM on Tuesday visited and reviewed progress of the works of Sriram Sagar Revival Scheme as part of the Kaleswaram project. He has examined the works of eight pump houses at Srirampur. He held a review of the progress of the work with the officials.
The CM who is bent upon completing the works on Kaleswaram Project on time and as per schedule, made a second visit to the project site within a span of 15 days. On May 19, the CM visited Medigadda Barrage and Kannepally pump houses. Despite the severe heat conditions, the CM went around the sites and interacted with the officials and engineers and gave them suitable instructions.
On Tuesday the CM started his tour and visited Rampur Pump House site. He reviewed the works on the SRSP revival Scheme. Later he had inspected the works on Medigadda Barrage. He also undertook an aerial survey over Godavari Basin region, Barrages. Along with the CM, officials, political leaders and engineers travelled by two Choppers. The CM has instructed Prashanth Reddy to personally monitor works on Rampur Pump House as part of the SRSP revival Scheme.
The CM in the past had taken upon reviving the SRSP by instructing the officials concerned to supply water through reverse pumping from Laxmipur Pump House flood flow canal to Sriram Sagar Project. The water reached from Laxmipur to Rampur from Medigadda, Sundilla, Annaram Barrages will be sent to Sriram Sagar through the flood flow canal by reverse pumping. The CM instructed that the construction of Rampur Pump House an important component of the SRSP revival Scheme and it should be completed on a war footing.
Since from this July water is being lifted from the Kaleswaram project, water should be pumped for the Mid Maner and SRSP. The CM has instructed the officials to complete the works on five pump houses within a month and works on the remaining three by August.
He asked them to make arrangements for the necessary power supply. Since water flows are there in river Godavari till October and November, water pumping should be done till then for the SRSP. He urged the officials to work towards supplying of water under SRSP Ayucut for the second crop from this year onwards. He asked the Work Agencies to employ more people, if need be, to reach the target on time.
With a view to supplying water to one crore acres of land, the state government is constructing projects like Palamuru-Rangareddy, Kaleswaram, Sitarama Lift Irrigation Scheme. Of this, Kaleswaram is very important. This project is aimed to supply water to farm sector, industries and for the drinking water needs of about 80 percent of the districts in the State. Once this project is completed the entire Telangana State will become fertile. This is the reason why the State government has taken measures so that there will not be any problem with the land acquisition, lack of funds or delay in any policy decision.
Hence works on the project are going ahead briskly. Generally, a mega project like Kaleswaram will take about 15 to 20 years to complete. But the Telangana government in a short span of two and half years, important barrages and pump houses are constructed to lift water from river Godavari to supply to the farm lands. This is a miracle, which will be written in the annals of history.
Since water should be pumped by next month, officers, engineers and work agencies should work in coordination. Keeping in mind the firm resolve of the government on the project, officials work agencies should work with dedication and commitment to reach the goal. One should be careful in the last phase, as there will be some teething troubles once the water started pumping. Get over these obstacles as and when they crop up and continue the good work to make the project strong and viable. It is also important to maintain the project,” the CM said.
