The agitation of the farmers to make Amaravathi a sole capital of Andhra Pradesh has reached 400 days . This is a record. The agitation has been going on for the last four hundred days.
Women are also participating in large numbers demanding to continue Amaravathi as the sole capital for Andhra Pradesh.
Earlier TDP leaders, and party cadres conducted torch rally as the Amaravati agitation completed 365 days on Wednesday.
The farmers said that the agitation will not stop until Amaravati is announced as the sole capital of the state. They further criticised Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy that he first supported Amaravati as the state capital when in the Opposition but announced three capitals after coming to power.
“Jagan’s conspiracies against Amaravati will fail and the agitation of farmers and women will not stop. Jagan will have to pay the price for his misdeed of trifurcation of the state capital,” they said.
Jagan on the other hand has met the Minister for Home Amit Shah to consider the three capital idea for the decentralisation of power centres. The centre on the other hand has clarified that it is for the state to decide on the capital city.
The agitation began after the state government in December last year announced creation of three capitals – executive capital at Visakhapatnam, legislative capital at Amaravati and judicial capital at Kurnool.
