Prajakta Sawant, India’s one of talented badminton players will be seen in action in the Premier Indian Badminton League which will be getting under way from tomorrow. Prajakta, who trains in Malaysia has been working pretty hard to get into the top 20. Taking to Greattelangaana.com, the rising shuttler from Mumbai was of the opinion that this IBL is huge platform for any professional player to showcase talent.

MS:How do you look at the coming IBL, playing after a gap?
PS: Well it’s big opportunity for me as I am playing after some gap. In fact for any professional player this is a big platform to prove talent. To me personally it is a huge chance to make a comeback into the Indian team.

MS: How do you rate your team’s chances?
PS:We are a strong team with plenty of experience. There is good balance in the team and we can hope for first position. But the only concern is, it is not easy to predict in the format that is of 11 points 3 games.

MS: You train overseas now and have also been playing for other clubs. How has it been?
PS: It has been a good experience indeed. All know how I struggled in India. From 2014 I have been in Vision Badminton Academy in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). And I got opportunities to represent a club team. I thank all my coaches – Yogendran Krishnan, Manoj Kumar, Kay Lun and Kay Bin for giving me a new birth in badminton. I also train at Chennai (NVBA) when I am in India. I am indebted to all these, without them I would not have achieved after the inexplicable struggle in India.

MS: How do you look at your future now?
PS: Well my main aim at the moment is to train hard and get into top 20 next year. I know playing for a club it wont be easy for me as I don’t often get chances to play all tourneys. But this is my target and lets see how it gets going.

MS: Your parents have been very supportive -havent they?
PS: Yes no one can deny it. I am lucky to have such parents. I have had great support from my parents right from my childhood. I just can’t say in words how they back me up in difficult times. Especially my father has been very very supportive.
