Society for Cyberabad Security Council(SCSC), Cyberabad Police together in Collaboration with Dept of Women & Child Welfare, Govt of Telangana pledges to support the Educational needs for Covid Orphans who lost both parents during the pandemic.
It is estimated that nearly 200 kids are orphaned in Telangana State. They have lost their parents due to Covid in the pandemic and their future seems to be bleak and there is no support available to continue their education. While most of the students are being taken care of by the Dept of Women & Child Welfare, Govt of Telangana by accommodating them in various Residential Government Schools located in Districts.
There are 40 orphans in four Districts—Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Sanga Reddy, and Medchal. And most of them are studying in private schools. Seventeen orphans reached out for financial assistance for their schooling through the Dept. of Women and Child Welfare.
This is where SCSC and Cyberabad Police stepped in and have they pledged to support the educational needs of 17 Covid Orphans from these four districts.
Earlier in July this year, Cheques were given away for seven children by Ms. Divya Devarajan, IAS, and Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad. In continuation to the earlier programme, in an official programme held today at the Cyberabad Commissionerate, cheques were handed over for ten children to the respective School Management representatives along with school bags, books, and accessories.
SCSC will be extending support to these four districts in collaboration with the Dept of Women & Child Welfare. Speaking on the occasion, Sri Stephen Raveendra, IPS., CP, Cyberabad appreciated the gesture by SCSC in complementing the efforts of the Government and supporting the financial needs towards the education of these orphans. He also mentioned that the orphans and their family members can reach out to SCSC for any further help they would need in the future.
Ms. Moti, District Welfare Officer, R.R District while interacting with orphans and their guardians said, it is important that we provide a good support system for these orphans to continue their studies and encourage them to excel in academics for their better future.
Mr. Krishna Yedula, General Secretary of SCSC said that SCSC has always been at the forefront to drive unique initiatives for the benefit of the larger society and that it has delivered many such initiatives during the pandemic. He further added that the decision to support the educational needs of orphan children has been the most satisfying one. This support will go a long way in helping these children to grow into responsible citizens and help in nation-building.
