Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday warned ministers against chest-thumping on the Indian Army’s surgical strikes across the Line of Control (LoC).
According to a report, Modi also said that ministers should not speak out of turn on the issue. At a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, the PM made clear that only those authorised should speak on the strikes.
India attacked terrorist launch pads across the LoC on September 29, with the security forces killing 38 terrorists. However, Pakistan has refused to acknowledge that surgical strikes took place in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), calling it Indian propaganda.
Meanwhile, the Opposition Congress and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal have also questioned the Centre on the strikes, saying that proof of the strikes must be shared by the government.
Modi chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) to discuss the security scenario in the wake of the surgical strikes on terror launch pads across the LoC.
The meeting was briefed about the situation on the LoC and the International Border as well as the hinterland, sources said.
Tensions between India and Pakistan have increased after the surgical strikes carried out on the intervening night of September 28 and 29 on terror launch pads across the LoC.
Pakistan has intensified cross-LoC firing and shelling since the surgical strikes.
