As the army is fighting the enemy at the border, Police is fighting the virus in the country, said Dr G.Srinivas Rao Director of Public Health, Government of Telangana at the inauguration of Cheyuta, covid isolation center for frontline warriors.
Dr Srinivas said that he has been seeing the human side of Police during the first phase of Coivd debunking the old perception. He said that being part of Health Department it befalls on them to deal with any health emergency or pandemic, but this is first time he saw Police emerging as a frontline warrior and working in all possible ways and by all difficult means to contain the spread of virus and save the public.
He said that the strict implementation of the Lockdown has helped in declining numbers of infected persons and that the Police are working 24/7 without food and even water in the scorching heat of May for making the lockdown a success as desired by the Chief Minister of Telangana and he appreciated the three Commissioners of Police in Hyderabad for making the city safe for the people.
He further stated that there is a steep decline in the positive cases in the State of Telangana He specially appreciated CP Rachakonda Sri Mahesh Bhagwat for his initiatives in serving not only his own staff but also the public during the pandemic. Dr Srinivas has handed over 2 oxygen concentrators (10 L) to CP Rachakonda for use in the covid isolation center. Earlier during the tour of the facility, he appreciated that the center is well
as per the guidelines and in fact with 5 oxygen beds and a well- equipped ambulance, is more like a hospital facility.
CP Rachakonda Sri Mahesh Bhagwat IPS in his address stated that in Rachakonda Commissionerate many police personnel have tested positive and recovered from Covid due to the close monitoring of their health condition. However, he said, he observed that several personnel have no provision at home to isolate themselves be it lack of enough rooms or wash rooms or presence of elderly parents or kids
whom they fear they would infect if they are at home but have no choice. CP Rachakonda stated that this isolation center will be of help to such personnel who can come to this 30 bed isolation center which also has 5 oxygen beds. He further touched upon the various activities Rachakonda Police is doing for the public like the psycho socail counselling services to address the mental health issues, the Oxygen on Wheels service by Mahindra Logistis which provides free transport facility to government hospitals who can refill their oxygen cylinders using the service, providing meals to lorry drivers on highways with the help of Haryana Nagrik Sangh and Sikh Sangh, adoption of old age homes and orphanages.
He thanked the KEATS members who sponsored the setting up of the Isolation Center, Rajha Convention center for providing the space, Tulasi Hospital for agreeing to provide emergency medical services to the isolation center patients.
Sri Sudheer Babu Addl CP Rachakonda has wished that the isolation center helps in breaking the chain of Covid 19 and that the personnel always have a fear carrying the infection home and this facility will definitely help them to isolate so that they do not spread it to their family members. He urged the personnel to use the facility judiciously so that the needy person can utilize the same.
DCP Malkajgiri Ms Rakshita Murthy IPS explained the facilities available in the enter and the admission criteria for the center. She stated that the center has 2 inhouse doctors, round the clock nursing facility and that the center is professionally maintained and the inmates are given healthy and balanced diet.
DMHO Medchal Malkajgiri district Sri Mallkarjun hoped that the isolation center really helps in breaking the chain of Covid 19 specially in case of police personnel who are more exposed to the virus owing to the nature of their duties.
