Swati Lakra IPS, ADGP, Women Safety Wing, Telangana Police launched a four day Training program for the staff of Bharosa at Telangana State Police Academy, Himayath Nagar, Hyderabad.
While speaking as chief guest for the program she said that Bharosa initiative is the pride of Telangana Police and the Hon’ble Supreme court had also lauded it as a model to be replicated across the country. To keep up the quality of services in Bharosa Centres in the State, this refresher training has been arranged with the help of NIMHANS, Bangalore, she said.
The four Bharosa Centres at Hyderabad, Sangareddy, Vikarabad and Warangal have handled more than 379 child abuse cases in 2020 although Covid was prevalent. The end to end services being given in each case has resulted in rehabilitating each victim. This gives immense satisfaction to us, she said.
Ms Sumathi IPS, DIG, Women Safety Wing, while speaking as Guest of Honour reiterated the need for the training to the staff to improve their performance.
Another Guest, Mr Ramesh Naidu, Joint Director, TSPA said Bharosa initiative has to be replicated in every district and the staff training needs will be met by TSPA.
The Resource Person from NIMHANS, Dr Sheila Ramaswamy explained about the course on Handling Child Sexual Abuse victims which is being taken up in every state in India. She said it is a privilege to train the staff of Bharosa who are handling such cases every day.
The Technical Director, Bharosa, Dr Mamatha Raghuveer explained about the future plans of Bharosa. In this inaugural session, Inspectors Mr Ravinder, Mr Ravi Kumar, Mr Kiran, and Bharosa staff from 4 districts have participated.
