The Congress party has opposed the appointment of Ganapathy Bopaiah as the Protem speaker of the Karnataka Assembly. He will conduct the floor test on Saturday here in the Assembly at 4 Pm . The house will assemble at about 11 am it is reported. The Congress party said that there are other seniors who must be considered as the Protem speaker.
But Bopaiah was the speaker earlier for the Assembly of Karnataka.
The Governor has administered the oath of secrecy to Bopaiah as the protem speaker. But there is a rule that the senior-most man must get the opportunity to be made as a Protem speaker. Congress leaders charged that the Governor did not implement the rule while appointing the Protem and that he ignored the seniors in the process. Despnade was elected to Assembly for 8 times and he is the senior who should get the post said the Congress leaders.
There is a chance that the Congress might approach the court again to stop the appointment of Bopaiah as the protem speaker.
