YSRC MPs Vara Prasada Rao, Y.V. Subba Reddy, Midhun Reddy, Y.S. Avinash Reddy and Mekapati Raja Mohan submitted their resignations to the Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan today, the last day of the Parliament’s Budget session.
YSRC chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on March 27 had said his MPs would resign on April 6 over the Modi governments refusal to grant Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh.
“In case Parliament has adjourned sine die, they would resign on the day of adjournment. We would request the TDP to join our struggle,” Jagan told MPs at an emergency meeting at Muppala village.
Jagan had also said the YSR Congress was ready to work with any party supporting the demand for the SCS and told the MPs that all decisions beginning with the announcement of the resignations to tabling the no-confidence motion had been taken with a clear conscience.
SCS is our right! If not granted, YSRCP MPs will resign the day Parliament is adjourned sine die & go on an indefinite hunger strike at AP Bhawan,New Delhi. In the interest of AP&for future of our youth @ncbn make TDP MPs resign as well. YSRCP will continue its fight for SCS(2/2)
