With results of the local bodies polls declared, Kerala is likely to set a national record with its capital Thiruvananthapuram having a mayor who is just 21 years old. Once 21-year-old Arya Rajendran, a college student, takes charge as the city’s mayor, she will reportedly become the youngest person to hold a mayoral post anywhere in the country.
Sources say the CPIM’s Thiruvanathapuram district secretariat has recommended Arya Rajendran’s name for the post of mayor. This recommendation is likely to be accepted by the state committee and the final decision is likely to be announced by Saturday. Arya Rajendran is a law student at All Saints College, Thiruvanathapuram.
When Kerala is all set to appoint its young Mayor, Hyderabad is yet to come to a conclusion. Three political parties in Hyderabad got the seats divided amongst themselves.
The BJP got 48, MIM got 44 and the TRS got 58 seats respectively in the GHMC elections. So it is very interesting to wait and see who will get the Mayoral post. Both BJP and TRS are trying to poach the Corporators.
The New Mayor may come after the first week of February it looks like. Meanwhile there is a rumour that KTR is all set to become the Chief Minister of Telangana in place of his father KCR.
