Women lead from the front says Stephen Raveendra

This is not an ordinary evening, nor an ordinary conclave. Pandemic affected women’s lives in every sphere of their work and life. They juggled between home and work. Women lost livelihoods. Their work pressure lead to mental health issue. Women had the hardest journey in the past two years.

Their job losses were 1.2 times more than men. 309 women which is 48% of Cyberabad Policewomen force were down with covid. But, still they lead from front. The women demonstrated their strength and adaptability. And they continue to display their strength.

Through they are vulnerable, still they channelise their inner courage and reach out more. They have capacity to bounce back. Pandemic has shown how powerful women are. Empathise and support women said Stephen Raveendra, Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad Police while addressing She-M-Power, Women’s Conclave, organised jointly by Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) and Cyberabad Police at HICC on Friday evening.

Participating in a panel discussion on Reach,Ms. Shikha Goel, IPS, Director, Anti Corruption Bureau shared her journey, the share of struggles. My struggle basically was with myself rather than external world. From being a shy type till this stage, I have always challenged myself she said. And added that I was Officer first and gender comes later.

Joining in the discussion moderated by Vishnu Priya, Divya Devarajan, IAS, Special Secretary, Dept of Women, Children, Disabled and Senior Citizens, Govt of Telangana she explained her upbringing. IAS officers do not come from affluent families. Like me so many come from middle-class families, she shared. Thanks Tommy parents upbringing, I was always grounded. Why crib about problems and why can’t we be the change, she added.

As IAS officer, we get an opportunity to serve every day. I can make many smile. My job is very satisfying, Divya gave her concluding remarks.
