A group of women were arrested today at Krishna Barrage while they were going to Kanakadurga Temple. They were coming from Guntur protesting against the state government for the sake of Amaravathi Capital.
People here have been protesting for about 400 days for the sake of retaining Amaravathi as the Capital of Andhra Pradesh. Some women complained that the police have dragged them and in the process clothes were torn.Some women were slightly injured with some bruises here and there on the body.
The women with green scarfs around their neck were coming from Mandadam and they were stopped near Krishna Barrage. There were arguments and counter arguments, but the police arrested.
Women police arrested the agitating women on womens day here. The issue of Amaravathi was raised in the parliament, but there is no movement from the Central Government.
Jaganmohan Reddy the CM of AP said that the Capital will start functioning from Visakhapatnam. There will be three capitals. But the people from Guntur, Vijayawada especially the farmers who have given land are protesting for the sake of retaining Amaravathi as the Capital.
