Earlier the people voted against the Delhi Government for not controlling the prices of Onions. We can say that the soaring rate of Onions has pulled down the Government.
In the same fashion, there could be trouble for the states which are going to polls by this year-end. The BJP Government at the centre has stepped to arrest the situation with Subsidy on Tomatoes.
“Tomato, being a highly perishable item with a very short crop duration, exhibits considerable seasonal variation in prices but these episodes are short-lived,” the article authored by a team led by RBI Deputy Governor Michael Debabrata Patra said.
The ladies are bearing the brunt of LPG, Tomato, and also chilies to some extent. While the wages of a common man are not going up, the rates of essential commodities are going up.
There is no control over the situation. Lack of cold chains is the real issue for not storing the tomatoes. Rainy season is also another reason.
There are times when the rate of tomatoes was not even Rs two per KG. Now it has crossed two hundred rupees. Tomato chilly chutney was the food for the common man.
Now it is not affordable. So the BJP will have to face the music of the common in the coming polls on the rising prices of essential commodities.
