There is a talk that there will be a leadership change in the BJP. RSS Chief Mohan Bhagawat has agreed that the BJP has failed in controlling the 2nd phase of Corona in the country.
The elections are far away in 2024. The Coronavirus has made a big dent in the image of Modi the Prime Minister. Earlier there was a talk that Nitin Gadkari would take over as the PM.
But Modi has got an overwhelming majority and there was no change in the leadership. But with Corona there is every chance that there could be a change in the leadership.
There will not be any midterm poll as the BJP has lost Bengal and the situation is not conducive in the country for early polls. At the same time, there is no alternative leadership at this point in time.
There may not be an alternative to the Modi -Shah leadership at this juncture.
Thanks to the Supreme Court verdict, Ram Mandir is all likely to be completed before the 2024 elections. Prime Minister Modi is adept at converting crisis into an opportunity.
This can be a powerful weapon for BJP to achieve pan-India Hindu consolidation.
The absence of a coherent opposition and a strong leader who could match the popularity of Narendra Modi in the adversarial camp are added advantages to the BJP.
The regional parties are anyhow there to compensate from the back door even if BJP falls short of the requisite majority.
All said and done it is not easy to pull down Modi. Unable to tackle the second wave of Corona cannot be the right reason for replacing the PM.
