Is the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao likely to advance the Polls here in Telangana. The situation more or less looks like the same. If he waits till the 2019 dead line the anti-incumbency factor will rise . So it is better to advance the Polls and the opposition would be caught unawares over the matter.
The TRS’ major poll promises of constructing 2BHK houses for poor, 3-acre free land to Dalits, KG-to-PG free education, 12 per cent quota for Muslims and STs are yet to be fulfilled though the government is set to complete three years in office in another three months. “The government hardly has one more year to work unbridled.
The last year of its rule will be election year, where time will be devoted mostly to political issues than administrative. Fulfilling major poll promises within the left over span is a difficult task. We have to look for suitable allies to mitigate the negative impact of not fulfilling the major poll promises,” the TRS leaders said.
On the other hand the TS Budget for 2017-18 is to set the tone for the 2019 Assembly elections. The government, which has laid more emphasis on irrigation projects so far, seems to have realised that irrigation projects won’t fetch votes but populist schemes will.

YSR, too, gave prominence to irrigation projects in 2004 with the Jalayagnam scheme. But when the project got delayed due to court cases and environmental issues, he changed his priorities and embraced populist schemes like Arogyasri and fee reimbursement for college students, which catapulted him to power in 2009.
Even if everything goes well there will be advancement of Polls at least by an year. The elections could be anytime in 2018.
