“What will the poor eat: atta (wheat flour) or data? Data is cheaper, atta is dearer. This is their definition of changing the country. While you’re at it, please explain who will solve the problem of call drops,” the Rashtriya Janata Dal chief tweeted in Hindi today.Meaning the poor people want atta not the cheaper data being offered by the Reliance.
The dig came a day after both the Aam Aadmi Party and Congress attacked PM Modi over frontpage newspaper ads that used his photo to announce the launch of Jio 4G services. In a string of tweets, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal called PM Modi him “Mr Reliance” and accused him of “openly endorsing” the Jio product.
“Modiji you keep modelling for Reliance ads. Labourers across the country will teach you a lesson in 2019,” Mr Kejriwal said in a tweet in Hindi.
The Congress meanwhile said PM Modi should take action against Reliance Jio if the telecom company has failed to take permission from the PMO for using his photograph.
“There are certain norms for displaying photo of the Prime Minister in an advertisement. As a former Union minister, I am aware that prior permission has to be taken. Had Reliance taken permission from the PM or the PMO?” Congress’ leader Ajay Maken said.
Reliance, through its ads, dedicated the Jio 4G service to the Modi government’s flagship Digital India project.
