The speaker post is considered to be the top slot in the state. As per rules, the Speaker can direct the Chief Minister also. It is a post to be considered to be above the Chief Minister post. Three names are doing the rounds in the State of Telangana. First, the name of Eteala Rajendar was suggested. But the former finance Minister did not agree for the same. Then the names of Padma Devender and Pocharam Srinivas Reddy are under consideration.
Last night K Chandrasekhar Rao the CM of Telangana spoke to the leaders of other parties over the phone and wanted their cooperation to make the speaker election unanimous. Except for the Congress, all others agreed for the unanimous election.
The Nominations for the Speaker will take place today under the supervision of the protem speaker Mumtaz Ahmed Khan. Pocharam Srinivas Reddy will be the Speaker of the Assembly as the first priority. The second priority will be given to Padma Devendar.
Before reaching the Assembly for the first session of the second term of TRS government, KCR and the MLAs will pay tributes at the gun park. After the floral tributes, they will go to the Assembly at about 11 am.
