NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant told Water will decide the future elections in the country. ‘Effective Water Management is the need of the hour. Governments which fail to manage water will lose elections.
Those who succeed in providing water to the people will survive. Water is very critical resource, whether for improving quality of life or economic growth,’ he said.
Amitabh Kant points out lack of any regulation led to overexploitation of water in the past 10 years. He cautions the states were slowly turning into deserts.
As per statistics, India accounts for 17 percent of World’s Population but it has just 4 percent of the fresh water resources.
