A portion of the Vile Parle bridge in Mumbai has collapsed this morning. It is in Andheri area and some fire brigade personnel have been rushed to the spot.
The slab of the bridge that connects the east and west has collapsed on the railway track. The Train services will be affected and they have to be diverted from a different track as an immediate measure to move the public.
It is yet to be ascertained as to how many people are trapped in the debris and how many died under the debris.
The railway officials are also on the spot and supervising the relief and rescue operations.
No local train is running on the Western suburban line now. The trains on the harbour and trans-harbour line are running normally.
The Fire brigade personnel are enquiring locally if people are trapped under the debris of the bridge collapse.
