People have started thinking about Rajamouli, Prabhas, Rana and Baahubali. Yes I am talking about the Filmi people. Karan Johar the big producer and top gun of Hollywood has decided that he would make a movie with Rajamouli and Prabhas. Its like an open cheque and invitation from Karan. Rana is getting offers from Hollywood.
Hindi cinema has so much to learn from Baahubali, most significantly from director SS Rajamouli and leading man Prabhas, who staked five years of their life making two great films for relatively low fees in the hope that their project will pay off. People like Salman Khan and Aamirkhan who thought they could rake up crores from the market with Hindi cinema are talking about Tollywood and its reach. Yes Rs1000 crore. Not a joke. 1600 crore business in 5 years for two sections of a movie. Incredible.
So one can say qaulity counts. The content is the hero. Then other things like music and weaving, like taking follows. Just in the name of a hero the movies cannot survive further. The movie Pellichoopulu is on example where people loved it for its fresh content and fresh faces. Sankarabharanam was not known in the first week, later it caught up with the audience and became world famous and its director K Vishwanath finally got Dadasaheb Phalke awared.
Of course, the big learning Bollywood will immediately take from Baahubali is simply that audiences like a spectacle. The effects and stunts are fairly impressive.The hero is extraordinarily graceful . The reason Baahubali is so enjoyable and a great hit is because of the humanity and the mythology Rajamouli has woven. He has the broad but emotionally strong storytelling style of a modern day.
Even this lets-make-bigger-movies learning, however, isn’t a bad thing. Thanks to the bad attempts like Ra One, Bollywood will find itself forced to choose between overpaid actors and expensive special effects, and now – at long last – producers will start opting for the latter.
Finally I can tell you that story is the hero. Hail Vijayendra Prasad the story writer, father of Rajamouli.
