Varun barks the wrong tree

Varun Tej these days is not choosing the right subjects. Even if the subject is right the execution is very bad. That is what they have done with the Operation Valentine movie.

It is better for Vraun Tej to go for safe subjects and he has this lover boy image. Trying themes out of the way is a risk altogether for Varun.

There are a handful of moments that work in the second half. For instance, the aerial combat scenes are saving grace for the film.

The courage of the Indian Air Force and its operations are well depicted, but they too lack depth. The drama is insufficient.

A lot of atmosphere and backdrop a lot to be shown. But the makers lost it. Even technically, it isn’t brilliant owing to unimpressive VFX and loud BGM work. On the whole, the director failed and it is a wasted opportunity.

The makers must know that all patriotic films are not successful. It has to be worked out on a high budget and technology.

This is a movie with a mid-range budget and the result is a disaster at the box office. It might make a turnaround with different languages and then on OTT.
