Ambedkar UK organization & diaspora Indian organizations jointly organised the Thanks meet to thank Telangana Government and CM KCR as recently in Telangana state, the 125 feet statue of Ambedkar was unveiled to the world, the Telangana secretariat was named after Ambedkar, and the Telangana government especially KCR for bringing the Dalit Bandhu scheme for the upliftment of Dalits who are suffering from social discrimination and oppression.
This meet was organised in UK Parliament Committee Hall at London.
UK MPs Virendra Sharma, Navedu Mishra, Baron Kuldeep Singh Sahota, Telangana FDC Chairman Anil Kurmachalam, former MLC Karne Prabhakar and local NRI community leaders were present.
Presided over by coordinator Ceeka Chandrasekhar, the program started with floral tributes to Ambedkar’s portrait.
The MPs said that Ambedkar was a great social reformer who tirelessly fought against untouchability and said that Ambedkar’s lifelong struggle to end discrimination against Dalits is unforgettable.
Today Telangana government under the leadership of Chief Minister KCR not only set up statue of Ambedkar but also implemented Dalit Bandhu scheme for empowerment of Dalits in accordance with their ambitions is very inspiring, through such programs Dalits will not only be strengthened economically but also get due respect in the society and disparities will be removed, he said.
They congratulated Telangana Government and Chief Minister KCR and praised him for taking up such revolutionary programs and setting an example for others.
Ambedkar UK representative Sushant Indrajit Singh said that for the first time in the world, the Telangana government under the leadership of Chief Minister KCR, not only installed a 125 feet statue of Ambedkar, but also named the newly built Telangana secretariat as “Telangana Ambedkar secretariat “.
