The TTD is gearing for Akshaya Tritiya.Keeping in view the sentiments of the pilgrims to purchase gold or silver on the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya, the dollar sale counters in Tirumala and Tirupati should keep enough stock of Gold, Silver and Copper dollars the officials here have suggested.
The TTD weekly review meeting was held in the chambers of EO in administrative building in Tirupati . Reviewing on various subjects, the EO instructed the concerned to see that there is no dearth of dollars on April 29, following Akshaya Tritiya.
Later the EO suggested the engineering wing to complete the works of which is under construction in Sri Kapileswara Swamy temple as per schedule. He also instructed the engineering wing to find out a proper place to keep the Ratham at Tiruchanoor after procession. “The marketing department should keep hold of the stock of jaggery, ghee, sugar etc. as this is the peak season”, he observed.
There is a mad-rush for purchasing gold on Akshaya Tritiya. People believe that if we purchase gold on this auspicious day it will never diminish. But did you know that scriptures recommend Guru Pushya as the auspicious day for purchase of gold.
Simhachalam is the abode of Lord Narasimha. For Akshaya Tririya the Deity of Lord Narasimha is always covered with sandal paste. On the day of Akshaya Tritiya which occurs 11 days before Narasimha Jayanti – the appearance day of Lord Narasimha, the sandal paste is removed and abhishekam is performed. This is the only day the devotees will get to see the form of the Lord. On the same evening, the Deity is again covered with sandal paste.
Every year the Ratha Yatra festival is celebrated at Jagannath Puri. The three chariots of Jagannath (Nandhighosha), Baladeva (Taladhvaja) and Subhadra (Darpadalana) are newly constructed every year with the wood of specific trees. The construction of the charitos for Ratha Yatra begins on the day of Akshaya Tritiya.
