TS set for GST bill

The Telangana Government under the dynamic leadership of CM Chandrasekhar Rao  has decided to hold a special session of the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council on Aug 30 to give  nod to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) bill, passed by the Parliament recently.

“The Assembly and Council will meet on August 30  at 11 am to discuss the Constitution (122nd Amendment) (GST) Bill and approve the same. The modalities will be discussed here at the state secretariat in a cabinet meet.

The agenda and the total tenure of the session will be decided by the Business Advisory Committee of the State Assembly on Aug 30.Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to invite advocate general Ramakrishna Reddy as a special invitee to the session to give clarifications to the members of both the Houses on the Constitution amendment bill.

Central finance minister Arun Jaitley wrote a letter to KCR recently to convene a special session of the Assembly and adopt the Constitution 122 Amendment Bill, which was passed by the Parliament. At least half of the state Legislatures in the country have to approve the Constitution amendment bill.Accordingly, the state Assembly and Legislative Council will meet on August 30.
