The Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam will be closed for 9 days in a row. This is for Mahasamprokhsana. That is cleansing the Temple and making tidy. This is done once in 12  years and as per the rituals of the agama shastra. The Temple will be closed from August 9 to 17the up to 6pm. Devotees will not be allowed on to the hill of the TTD. They will be stopped at the entrance itself at the Alipiri according to the decision of the TTD board.

The Mahasamproksahana will be done from 12 th August it is learnt. Earlier the Mahasamprokshana was done in 2006. Those days around 30 thousand people used to come to Tirumala and there was limited darshan being possible. Now more than a lakh of pilgrims are coming to TTD on a daily basis and allowing them was not possible the Temple board members opined.

If the Darshan is allowed only 20000 will get Darshan and all others have to wait there for another two days for the darshan and ultimately it would create chaos and confusion the Temple board members explained. This is a sensational decision taken by the Board members and there all round resentment already from the pilgrims and the are not happy that the Lord Darshan will be closed for 9 days.
