Shivakumara Swamy the popular man who advocated Lingayatism died at the age of 111. The seer was the chief of Siddhaganga in Karnataka. The Swamy was unwell and survived on life support systems since last two weeks. He died this afternoon and his followers described it as sivaiykyam meaning joining Lord Shiva.
He has millions of followers, all the offices and other institutions will be close in Karnataka on Tuesday as a mark of respect for the seer. Three-day mourning will be observed for the seer. The seer is called as the walking god. Rivals Kumara Gowda and Yeddyurappa today addressed a joint press meet paying rich tributes to the seer.
PM Narendra Modi also posted rich tributes to the walking God. Earlier during the elections, Modi met the seer along with Yeddyurappa here in Karnataka.
