The third phase of local body elections in Telangana begins today. Polling will be held from 7 am to 5 pm. The polling is expected to end at 4 pm in the Maoist-hit areas like Mancherial, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mulugu, Jayashankar Bhupalpally districts. The state election commission has provided 9,494 polling stations were in 27 districts. The SEC authorities have declared that there should not be any campaign rallies, public meetings during the election time and warned of action against any poll code violation.
In the third phase of elections, 160 ZPTC and 1708 MPTC seats are going to be held. In the third phase, 741 candidates are in the fray for 160 JPTC seats, While 5,726 candidates are in the fray for 1708 MPTC seats. The election of the local bodies will finish today. The election results will be announced on May 27.
