Burdamamba is the name of the local diety and here people remove filth and dirt from the drains and wipe it on the people with neem leaves. They enjoy by wiping the dirt on each other.
The festival is called as Burada festival. They believed that the god Buradamamba was born in the dirt and filth. That is the reason they wipe the dirt and filth from the drains on the people and dance to the tunes to the band baja.
This is in one of the tribal districts of Visakhapatnam. The festival is named Buradamamba after the local deity. But ladies are barred from the Festival. They don’t put the dirt on the ladies, it is only for the men.
Some of them take liquor put the filth with the neam leaves on others and dance to the tunes. This is just a belief in the miracle of god. They believe that the Buradamamba keeps them healthy and strong.
It is like the Tomato festival where the people hit each other with tomatoes. Here the people use dirt and filth from the rains to wipe at each other. They are also rolled in slush and mud.
