It looks like there will be an election for the Rajya Sabha Deputy post. Shivsena is set to get the post with the help of BJP. Modi the PM has offered the post to Shivasena to set the matter right between the two parties.

But now the Congress wants to support the candidate from Trinamul Congress. Mamatha has said that TMC would set up a candidate and will contest for the Deputy chief of Rajya Sabha.

Earlier Telangana Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao met the Prime Minister and requested him to give the RS deputy to K Kesava Rao who is senior parliamentarian from the TRS. But Modi turned down the request of TRS saying that it was promised for the Shivasena. But now it is like a test to the opposition if they can win the seat by contesting against the BJP.

Rahul, mamatha

It has to be seen as to who will the KCR support in the RS election as he was with Mamatha for a front against the BJP and the Congress. If he says yes for Mamatha it is like supporting the Congress. If he says no to Mamatha it is like supporting the BJP. It will be a tough decision to KCR now. It will be like a test to the unit of the opposition before the polls. If it succeeds nothing like it.

The last time an election took place for RS post was in 1992 otherwise most of the time it was like unanimous and consensus. The nomination for the post will be announced after July 18 when the monsoon session of the parliament begins. It will be an interesting contest before the 2019 polls.
