The Annaram barrage under Kaleshwaram

Annaram barrage is one of the important barrages constructed under the Kaleshwaram project.

Annaram Barrage is the second barrage that comes under the prestigious Kaleshwaram project. This barrage is also built under the Godavari at Annaram Village, in Mahadevpur Mandal at Jayashankarbhupalapally District.

The work for the barrage started on March 31 in 2017 and the work was completed in April this year. With a length of 1270 metres, the barrage is built at a height of 119 metres at the sea level. It can store water to the extent of 10.87 TMCs. 66 radial gates have been fixed to the barrage.

Each gate weighs about 140 tonnes. The water stored at the barrage will be there till about 35 kilometres behind the barrage. Three Karakattas have been built to prevent any dangers. The Engineers have built very strong to withstand any eventuality in the future. 30 lakh tonnes of sand has been diverted to this barrage to increase the storage capacity.

About a hundred engineers, 2500 workers, 20 officials have worked round the clock for this Annaram barrage. The project has been completed before the schedule.
